At York College President Pamela Gunter-Smith’s inauguration on Saturday, York Mayor Kim Bracey spoke of a desire to strengthen town-gown relations.
This weekend, they’re getting started.
The college, as part of inauguration events, is holding Spartan Service Day in the city from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, according to a news release. Students will be completing service projects at sites around the city, including Big Brothers Big Sisters of York County, Martin Library, York City Parks, Lehman Center, Garden Club of York, York Halloween Parade, York Housing Authority, First Presbyterian Church, York Food Bank, and Olivia’s House.
They’ll be taking the York County Heritage Rail Trail into the city, then spreading out from Continental Square, the release says.
Downtown Inc. will welcome the students, according to a news release from that organization.
